Accomplishments

Located in Western Martin County, the Barley Barber Swamp is teeming with plant and wildlife species-most notably, its bald cypress trees, including one of the largest in the United States. Currently closed due to hurricane damage we are hoping to open it again, so you can enjoy and follow our meandering boardwalk and explore the pristine, freshwater wetland, and take a moment to absorb the beauty of the unique ecological treasure that is the Barley Barber Swamp.

Mission Statement

Drawing on community involvement and partnerships, Treasured Lands Foundation is working to preserve natural resources, especially those accessible in Martin County. Our mission is to protect wildlife habitats and encourage passive and active outdoor recreation by supporting public land conservation efforts.

Examples are our partnering with FPL to re-open and preserve the environmental jewel Barley Barber Swamp. Another is our preservation of, and maintaining Simpson’s Island, located in the Indian River Lagoon.

Join us in our love and honoring the natural systems and beauty that surrounds us, help us preserve the beauty and nature around us for you, and future generations.
